Celebrating Diversity in Children's Literature ~ 10th Annual Multicultural Children's Book Day 2023

I wish I had this book while raising my four children during their very young years. (Even now I plan to give this book to my oldest for his 27th birthday.)

Whatever Comes Tomorrow introduces the concept of change in a way relatable to young children, helping readers (of all ages) understand the idea of "change." Big and small, known and unknown, the simple text and vibrant, lively, illustrations convey a hard-to-grasp concept. The illustrations show scenarios perfectly relatable to readers--situations everyone experiences, emotions everyone feels. Through the subtle messages and illustrations, readers are left with a lasting, positive, emotional impression. This books teaches social-emotional skills and provides early mental-health tools that will be retained into (and help prepare for) adulthood.

Excellent nonfiction backmatter includes information and conversation starters to help children understand and process their emotions, all developed in partnership with Maria-Veronica A. Barnes, diversity and inclusion consultant; Dr. Carolyn Rosinksy, M.D., child and adolescent psychiatrist; and Stefanie Paige Wieder, M.S. Ed., child development specialist.

A beautifully written, gorgeously illustrated, timely and much-needed picture book for boys and girls ages 4-9. Highly recommended for a young age group toward achieving life-time mental-health tools and techniques and also a wonderful gift book for new parents and new siblings.

Words and art combine to introduce the concept of change for very young readers. The simple, rhyming text paired with colorful illustrations portray "feelings" in ways children will instantly grasp and connect with on an emotional level.
